Testimonial: Daniel Dulle (University College of Teacher Education)

IMG_0751

Daniel Dulle is studying the teacher-training program for becoming an elementary school teacher at the University College of Teacher Education Styria.

Why are you studying the teacher-training program for becoming an elementary school teacher?

I love interesting and challenging tasks and these are tasks, teachers have to face every day. No pupil is comparable to another and for everybody the material has to be prepared accordingly. Also the desire to learn and the natural urge of children to gain knowledge should be awakened or sustained in school. This pretense demands ne wand creative solutions and didactical know-how. I think that I continuously learn something new in this job and I am able to develop myself. That is exactly why this career choice is right for me.

How did you learn about this study program?

Through my work at the children museum Graz „FRida & freD“ I learned that I enjoy communicating knowledge to kids and teenagers and that I am able to arouse enthusiasm within pupils for a topic. After having thought about it some time and encouragement by my private surroundings I registered for the admission procedure.

What do you especially like about your studies?

You start to gain lesson practice from the first semester onwards and so you can find out soon, if you are made for becoming a teacher. In addition, there are numerous additional offers, which allow you to focus on your own interests.

What makes your university unique?

The differentiation and advancement of individual strengths are not only seen as contents, which have to be conveyed, but are also lived. So every student is able to unfold his or her own strengths and develop them. In a pleasant an motivational atmosphere numerous creative ideas develop, which can be tested in the lesson practice.

You should become a teacher?

I think, especially people, who love to work with kids and teenagers should think about becoming a teacher. Of course, your own approach towards the topic of learning is of high importance because only if I have a positive approach towards the topic I can motivate pupils to learn. In addition, a high degree of flexibility is needed because in school life, unexpected change of plans is very common.

Have you already taken classes/courses at other Styrian universities or participated in collaborative projects?

Until now I have not taken any classes at other universities. But I had the opportunity to participate in an international project with education-cooperation-partners of the University College of Teacher Education Styria.

Why are so many young people drawn to Styria for their studies? What is so special about this university location?

I think that Styria is a very attractive location for students because it offers numerous fields of study at different universities. Also the Styrian infrastructure offers ideal living conditions for young people. So there are not only great possibilities for studying but you also have the opportunity to get a part time job and Styria offers a great amount of culture and free time activities.

Katharina Rajovic has completed the undergraduate program „ Automation Technology “ at FH CAMPUS 02.

Why have you studied „Automation Technology“?

The extra-occupational study program „Automation Technology“ is very diversified. It contains topics of electronic engineering, computational studies as well as systems engineering. How did you learn about your studies?

After having finished my education at a Higher Technical Institute, it was clear to me that I want to study at university. My previous education was focused on electronic engineering and computer engineering. Because I am naturally somebody who takes a look beyond one’s own nose and I searched for a study program which would deepen my knowledge and open new realms. „Automation Technology“ formed a great framework for my needs.

The concurrence of the subjects of electronic engineering, computer engineering as well as systems engineering give this study program its very own charm and multidisciplinary.

Why was your university special?

Because of the small classes, the university of applied sciences CAMPUS 02 offers very personal contact between students and lecturers. The class grows into a community over the course of time and we support each other. This familial atmosphere is also supported by lecturers and the other personnel at the university.

Who should study „Automation Technology”?

Automation Technology„ is the right field of study for all people who do not want to tie oneself down on one subject. Electronic engineering, computer engineering as well as systems engineering offer the ideal basis for a job within a multidisciplinary field.

Have you already taken classes/courses at other Styrian universities or participated in collaborative projects?

Within the framework of different lectures, we had the opportunity to visit lectures given by professors from the Technical University Graz.

Why are so many young people drawn to Styria for their studies? What is so special about this university location?

Styria offers a great variety of universities and universities op applied sciences for a single region. The offer of free time activities in the city as well as in nature is unique. Following the motto „not to small, but not to too big“ there is a homey atmosphere in Graz. The open-mindedness of the Styrian people causes lots of students to stay in Graz after finishing their studies.
